Who says untouchability has decreased in free India? S.R.Darapuri

Who says untouchability has decreased in free India?
S.R.Darapuri
While in police service in 1982 I had gone to National Police Academy, Hyderabad to attend Senior Officer’s Course. There we were taken to National Institute of Rural Development to apprise us about Rural Development. In the Institute I met Prof. Mathur who during conversation told me that he had also studied at Columbia University where Dr. Ambedkar had studied. Once an Alumni Meet was arranged at Delhi and a dinner was arranged in which he sat next to Dr. Ambedkar. During conversation Dr. Ambedkar told Mr. Mathur an interesting story. He said,” Look Mr. Mathur! I am Law Minister of India but do you know what is my social status among my colleague ministers? When they call me to their homes on some social function I go and eat what ever is served. But when I invite them to my home most of them do not eat anything saying that it is their fast day. It is so because I am still an untouchable for them.”
If this can happen to Dr. Ambedkar then just imagine what still might be happening to the common dalits in India?
